In the Ryukyu Kobujutsu / Kobudo weapons are 8 taught. There are 7 subordinate weapons each with its specific use in a Kata demonstration, but otherwise, such as the main weapon to be handled. Good examples are Hanbo and Ekku, which generally run like Bo, but by their shape and size are certain other techniques to allow or even that certain techniques make no sense.
