description of the school
Southport Muto Aikido Club teaches an Iwama style of Aikido as taught by Saito Sensei and passed down by his students. Simon, the club’s instructor was taught his Aikido, formerly, by Shihan Ralph Reynolds of the Aikido Fellowship (Shihan Reynolds was one of the first people in the UK to learn Aikido at ’The Hut’) and, latterly, by Sensei Roger Tabberer, of the West Midlands Aikido Association, who studied as an uchi dechi (live-in student) with Saito Sensei. Shihan Reynolds has sadly passed away and Sensei Tabberrer has now retired from teaching Aikido.
