description of the school
At New York Martial Arts Academy students are given the opportunity to train in Jeet Kune Do. We do not mix and match different styles and still call it Jeet Kune Do. We believe at this academy that Jeet Kune Do is not an idea, a strategy or a concept. We believe that JKD is the art, science and philosophy of combat according to the research and development of Bruce Lee.
In the JKD classes we cover long, medium and close range. The aspects that we cover are kicking, punching, trapping and grappling. We are looking at the most efficient manner to deal with these situations. This is why we also offer specialty classes in kick boxing, trapping, JKD open, footwork, and grappling classes.
At New York Martial Arts Academy, students train for various reasons such as fun, fitness, self-defense and the desire to learn Bruce Lee's martial art, with proper dedication our students are given the opportunity to receive all these benefits.
