description of the school
Perry and Rubin sensei have been instrumental in developing Aikido in the Claremont area since 1983. Musubi Dojo is the result of many transformations involving many people. From its meager beginnings in 1983 as Sensei Perry and Rubin's first attempt at teaching Aikido, it was an unnamed effort inTae Aponte's Karate dojo. Then Perry and Rubin sensei began an Aikido club at the Claremont Colleges where Rubin sensei teaches philosophy. It was called the Claremont Colleges Aikido Club. Then, when Rubin and Perry sensei decided to open a dojo at the Claremont Packing House, a few of their friends - Mark Adachi, Darren McKee, Chicako Higa, and Lewis Young - joined them in setting up a dojo called Aikido of Claremont. Located in Claremont's (now famous and restored) packing house on First Street, it soon moved to a larger space on Monte Vista Avenue in unincorporated San Bernardino county.
