description of the school
The definition of Kentai means two things serving one purpose, this relates to the sporting and traditional aspects of Karate. The club is Wado-Ryu based, a style of karate that can be thought of as the progeny of Okinawan karate and Japanese ju-jutsu and kendo. From Okinawan karate comes the hard punches and kicks, and from ju-jutsu and kendo the use of body movement and joint locks and pins. It is a system that uses your whole body, close in and at range. This style of karate is an excellent method of self defence; it can build confidence and self discipline as well as improve fitness.
